Course Registration Information
Prior to enrollment, students should participate in a visitation to the Career and Tech program(s) of interest, which will likely take place virtually this year. Following the visitation, students will meet with their school counselor to register for a Career and Tech class. School counselors will register the student by transmitting their information through SchoolTool. Students who have an IEP or a 504 Plan must have their documentation forwarded to the Career and Tech Center prior to enrollment. Courses are filled on a first come, first serve basis, and the course registration period begins in late January and runs until courses are filled to capacity. Students are encouraged to indicate two courses of interest, in case they are not able to be enrolled in their first choice course. Students may be placed on a waiting list if there is not availability in their selected course(s).

All Career and Technical Education courses are eligible to be used towards a student earning a CTE Pathway to graduation.
Concurrent EnrollmentSeveral CTE programs offer the opportunity college credits from SUNY Sullivan. through a program call concurrent enrollment. Students receive a transcript from SUNY Sullivan that can be transmitted to the college of their choice upon completion of the program. The number of credits that can be earned ranges from 3-6 depending on the course.

Integrated Math and Science CTE coursesStudents can earn 1 credit of math and 1 credit of science towards graduation by enrolling in the majority of the Career and Tech programs. These credits are earned through applying math and science related concepts throughout their Career and Technical field of study.

Internships and Employment Skills Students will learn the technical, communication and interpersonal skills necessary to be successful upon graduation. Internships provide students with experience in their chosen field, in addition to making valuable connections with employers in our area. Many employers hire Career and Tech students who participate in internships in their place of business. 100% of students will participate in Work Based Learning (WBL) opportunities.

Student RecognitionAll Career and Tech students are eligible to attain Honor Roll, High Honor Roll and awards for their achievements. Second year students will receive their Completer Certificate upon successful completion of their Career and Tech Program at the annual ceremony. Students may earn their NYS Career and Technical Endorsement upon completion of their program.

Leadership Opportunities
Students are selected to participate in this national leadership organization based on excellence in academics, both at the Career and Tech Center and at their home school. Students must meet strict attendance and behavior guidelines, and be motivated to succeed.

Students in the Nurse Assisting and Health Occupations program may participate in this health care national student leadership organization. HOSA students can participate in leadership training, workshops and national conferences. Students walk away with a vast network.
|
Students in the Animal Science program may participate in this agricultural national student leadership organization. Resources and networking abound in the FFA organization. FFA members can participate in leadership training, workshops and national conferences.

All CTE students are eligible to join SkillsUSA. SkillsUSA students strengthen their leadership, communication, and technical skills through participation in community service projects, leadership workshops and conferences, and competing in regional, state and national competitions.
