Course Description
If you are someone who enjoys working with your hands, has a mechanical aptitude, takes pride in your work, and is passionate about cars, then you might consider a career in collision repair. This is a challenging, yet rewarding career. Usually, Collision Repair Technicians can repair any type of vehicle, but most technicians work on cars and small trucks. There are also Specialty Technicians who learn to work on specific models, including sports cars and high-end vehicles.

Course Content
The program's coursework follows the framework of one of the industry's leading partners, I-CAR.
I-CAR Refinish Technician Pro Level 1: A Refinish Technician at Pro Level 1 learns to prepare and prime vehicles and vehicle parts; use and maintain a spray gun; mix, store, and dispose of hazardous materials; understand the corrosion protection process; and sand, buff, and detail a refinished vehicle. I-CAR Non-Structural Technician Pro Level 1 : A Non-Structural Technician at Pro Level 1 learns to remove and install trim and hardware, identify various vehicle materials, bolt-on parts, install movable glass, perform steel cosmetic straightening, and plastic repair. |

Fred MullerAuto Body TeacherHi my name is Fred Muller and I’m the Auto Body Instructor. I’ve been working in CTE for 8 years and I have 32 years of experience in my field. I attended Orange County Community College where I received an Associates Degree. Prior to becoming a teacher here I worked in the automotive field as an Auto Body Repair Technician as well as in the insurance industry as a Claims Adjuster. I was drawn to this field because I have always enjoyed working with cars. The certifications that I hold in the automotive field are ASE Collision Master Tech Certification, I-CAR Certification, Licensed NYS Automotive Appraiser, Licensed NYS Vehicle Inspection, and PPG Certified Refinish Technician. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family.
