The main focus of the Early Childhood Education Program is the education of young children.

This program teaches students about the development of children from infancy to nine years of age. This program provides a foundation for those students who are interested in working with young children.

The Early Childhood Education program teaches the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of children. The curriculum includes using observation as a tool for assessment, the development of student management techniques, handling daily routines, and setting classroom limits. High school students learn how to prepare lesson plans and structure the environment to optimize student learning. Particular attention is placed on managing a budget to purchase educational materials that are safe and effective.

Early Childhood students participate in internships throughout the school year. Students work with three-four year old children in a childcare center environment along with Pre-K through 3rd-grade students in a public school setting. These students become an integral part of the classroom and work closely with teachers, support staff, and the children in everyday activities.

Nicole Park

Early Childhood Teacher

Hi I’m Nicole Park and I’m the Early Childhood Education Instructor. I attended Livingston Manor High School. After that, I went to SUNY Oneonta where I received a degree in Human Ecology Child and Family Studies. I also attended Marywood University to receive my Masters in Education. I have 12 years of experience in this field and was an Elementary School Teacher prior to becoming a CTE Instructor. This is my 8th year in CTE. What really drew me to this field was that I wanted to inspire children to learn new things. The best part of my program is that students will learn about the developmental stages of children and they will gain hands-on experience while working directly with children in this field. I have multiple certifications in this field which include Elementary Education birth to 2nd grade, Elementary Education 1st to 6th grade and Human Services 9th to 12th grade. In my free time I like to go on nature hikes, bake, craft with my children, and I really love to paint.
