Kate Freda
RN, BSN, MS
Allied Health Teacher
Hi my name is Catherine Freda and I am the teacher for the Allied Health and New Vision programs. However, prior to that, I taught LPN for seven years. I have worked in Career & Tech for 19 years and I have 38 years of experience in my field. Before I was a CTE teacher, I was a registered nurse with multiple roles including Intensive Care, Orthopedic and Neurologic Rehab, and Head Nurse for the Step Down/PCU Unit. I have also worked as a Training Specialist at a hospital where I was responsible for the training of over 700 employees. What drew me to enter my field was that my father was disabled from the time I was a small child, as well as enjoying an anatomy and physiology class in college. I truly loved the subject. The best part of my programs are that my students have the opportunity to do Clinical Observations where they get a close-up look at various professions in healthcare. I went to Penn State University and received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, then I went to the University of Scranton where I received a Master of Science in Human Resources with a specialization in Human Resources Development. I am a First Aid Instructor as well as an American Heart Association BLS Instructor. In my free time, I like to garden and I have hiked two 14ers in Colorado.
